Good weekend, good showing.. Nice progress on the special teams play all around......
I feel very positive going into the upcoming matchup against Snotberts....
UWRF is going to be dangerous, as they sit at 0-3-1 --- I hope at the end of the week they are at least 0-4-2...

You guys (Jay, Wormser, Cave) keep up all this chatter. Speaking of slackers, why does Kelly read the board every day and never post? Question for anyone who can answer .... in the second period of last night's game there was a potential UWSP goal but there was some confusion about something ... what was the confusion or the call by the refs? It didn't draw a penalty, so I wondered if they called no goal because the net was off ... but then they never put the net back on until the next whistle ... just curious

From what I heard on the radio, it was something to do with a player in the crease/puck off skate
At least that's my recollection -- I could be wrong. I did have a screaming 3 year old next to me.

Was waved off for goaltender interference. Where's the confusion in that?

Wormser - You're the only person to have seen both these teams.
Where's the scouting report?

Point has yet to play their best game, by a lot in my opinion. Which is a great considering they're undefeated thus far. Once all the forwards get their "game on" they'll be a force. Transition game needs some work, but it has improved. I saw SNC their first game of the year against Lawrence. They are the defending Nat'l champions and every one of their returners are top flight players. AJ Gale is the best newcomer that I saw for them, he's a big forward who runs the point on the PP. He has a sniper shot and goes high at will. He's a DI transfer from SCC IIRC. Otherwise their freshman are skilled as per usual, but I thought they were a little weak defensively and I think the big hitting NCHA style might catch them off guard a little. The big question for SNC is who replaces Kyle Jones in goal and how good that person is. They split time between Bashor and O'brien(also a DI transfer) down the middle. Speculation has it that Bashor will start which I think is a bonus for Point. IMHO, he is not the answer for SNC in net. SNC's PP is lights out so far this year, clipping along at close to 40%, and while Points' PK is good, they need to stay out of the box as much as they can. Goalie ~ advantage Point Special Teams ~ advantage SNC Defensemen ~ depends on the line Forwards ~ pretty close and if Point was clicking possibly them, but advantage SNC Fan base ~ advantage Point It'll be a good one. Point tied SNC at the CCC last year, and very nearly won the game in OT. The place is only intimidating because SNC is good, the fan base while large gives very little in vocal support. Plus I'll be there so thats an auto advantage for Point. Go Dogs!! If anyone has any specific questions I can field those.

Disappointing loss to Stout last night........if this team is going to do anything they need to win these games.. Not stop at 3 goals, keep shooting, keep scoring -- Maybe we lack a killer instinct...or Don't know how to beat Kroening.

Please Point, beat Superior 7-0. I once saw Dan Stauber eat a baby with a fork. He's that intense.

Wormser ... I'm interested to hear your thoughts on tonight's game
I thought the first period Point played well and skated with Superior. Not a lot of opportunities for either team to put the puck in, and SOG were 9-4 in favor of Superior after one. The goal by Madden was a beauty and I thought would fire Point up going into the second.
I felt like the guys just couldn't skate with Superior for the last 2/3 of the game ... it just felt lacking to me. I thought the hit on Manthey warranted a 5:00 penalty, but Superior only got the 2:00 for high sticking. Overall, it was a pretty clean game as neither team spent much time in the box. The second potential Point goal I thought should have been a goal. The initial shot was stopped but from where I was standing, I'd bet quite a bit that the rebound went it. You were right behind it, what'd it look like from there?
Interesting that Ersted and Foster were both out of the line up tonight as well. Hopefully Point can put together a win against St. Scholastica tomorrow night.

Point got worked the first 10 minutes, and by then it was 2-0. They were the better team from then through the second period and had numerous quality chances that just didnt find the back of the net in the second. I think the second period shot count was wrong. The waived off goal was very close, but Houser was right on top of it so?
Third period was pretty evenly played. The game was hard hitting. I thought Reed Lally played an excellent game, maybe his best as a Pointer even though he didn't get on the scoresheet. Madden was a madman out there, he was definitely playing on a lot of emotion, which I appreciated.
Superior is a good team, they deserve that No. 2 ranking.
